Nightfall – Megha Sood

My head resting on fluffy pillows

over the satin sheets;

soaked with the liquid moon of my broken dreams

those little miseries dying slowly

melting in my eyes till my wistful heart

can’t keep them inside anymore

rushing towards their broken deaths

etching the lamentation of my soul

My head resting on the wrinkled sheets

soiled by my stagnated desire

despair of my woebegone heart

counts the hopes and butterflies

that are crushed between the folds

My head resting on the

crumpled creased sheets

is lining up the nightmares

pits of the destruction,

those flying bits of my heart

scraped and churned into pieces

as I straightened them up with

moonlight soothing my temple

caressing my core

My head resting on the pillow

looking blindly at the broken ceiling

morphed into my ghouls waiting in the corner

chanting the warped words of my golden moon

As I slowly drift into the oblivion

Night falls and eludes me evermore.

  1. Wow, Megha. This is haunting in how you describe these nightmares; I also love the repetition in this piece as it flows naturally. Such a beautifully composed poem; it’s a fantastic take on the theme. ❤️
