GALAXIES – Devereaux Frazier

there is silence

within the scars

within the senseless

there is conviction

connection

to the spiraling arms

and the screaming

infinite tears racing towards our eyes

neighbors stop and stare

admittedly cautious to approach

shame may swallow Venus alive

as Mercury beats her into submission

but galaxies see battering of any life

as domestic, for we are all one

with magnificent rage and ethereal delight

she casts the accusatory husband

out of the garden

into the unknown

where all is suffering, all is nothing

all is his breath, all is his death

that he dreamt she would become

  2. Maybe I’m projecting ideas but I think I almost read a theme of domestic abuse in there, and if at all that is true, this is quite beautiful the way you brought the elements of the cosmos together with it. ❤

  3. WOW. Very eloquently written and what a story to read. It’s very nuanced and I love how you delved in the imagery with the theme of galaxies, especially with the comparisons to Venus and Mercury. It is heartbreaking in such imagery, for instance:

    “to the spiraling arms
    and the screaming
infinite tears racing towards our eyes
    neighbors stop and stare…”

It shows how common this can be. Comparing it to the terrestrial planets gives it a size on just how wide-spread the issue is in life. Excellent, excellent piece filled with tragic and descriptive imagery.
