Departure – Eric Daniel Clarke

Sunday lunch a while ago

mother hardly said a word

brother was he even there

father “Time to go now son”

sister allowed to wave him off

platform anxious paced its length

London afternoon train approached

quick handshake firm as men

he on board her tears begun

big brother lost for childhood years
