Pulse (2016)

I know something about
a loss-

your feet forget the
ground
but the footprints are
still embossed in
the way you’ve
come;

your lungs
and heart switch places,
and never was the versatility
so novel.

Words come out
a grovel, bottle necked at
breaths
held in so
long they’re fossils.

You tend to
to forget forests
for their trees, looking for
escapes in the canopy above
but it’s awfully
obscured.

Imprints
indistinguishable
from those who’ve
converged here
since;

a township
accompanies

those scaling tragedy,
unconvinced there’s
something at
the top.

And so I walked,
as you will walk,
listening to voices I
thought were in my head,
yet
pushed me on.

No North
Star,

but sometimes all you need is
someone to take up
the march
beside
you
and in
time,
the map is gradually drawn.

Uncharted
daytime after
emptied dawns,
but we’ll all help you stand in
awe of the

other side.
