Plastic Aegis, Paper Pages

Plastic soldier of perseverance,
your
emotions may be
green but
your soul is fearless;

you who have stood centimetres tall
whilst giants
fall around you.

You aren’t the opening crawl but
last shots fired,
not the origin of my drawl but
its siren song,

all they’ll remember when
I’m gone,
a legend among liars.

So soldier on,
over cardboard trenches and the
debris of youth,
because glory doesn’t
expire.

My words are
your tireless aegis,
living in awe of all that you are.
