Cancer Kindness

Be a cancer of kindness.

If everything you touch metastasises, even the
lymph nodes of lions will become a sponge
for savage
love

worth more than the
sum of its parts.

Be the illness that starts in
the breast and spreads through your chest,

locomotive through
the lungs on its
way to
your heart.

Be the diagnosis of life given focus,
because it could all be gone
in breaths.

Be a symptom of your own success,
because in either
sickness
or health

they’ll hold you close,
warts and all.

Be remembered how you lived;

they’ll forgive you
how you fall,

and you’ll always be a
medicine the world can
call on.
